Testing nilai murni based n exam is a waste of time. The faster we reduce formal assessments on none core subjects the better.ġ. This will also reduce stress on both teachers and students and make schools a happier place. Reducing formal and summative assessments for non-core/elective subjects will provide the space and opportunity for teachers to make learning fun. Subjects like physical education, moral studies, civics, religious studies should be thought and assessed using performance models, though performance assessment models should be considered widely across all subjects. There is a need to focus supporting students to acquire core subject content and important literacies necessary for the 21st century workplace. The current school curriculum is bloated with too many subjects and too many subjects that are formally assessed. Those subjects will be the vital skills for them to survive in their tertiary years and after they graduate.
Provide those subjects to ensure that students are ready earlier to embrace the innovation & digital world. To have a syllabus on 1.) MS Office and other computer applications 2.) digitalisation 3.) innovation (2) public speaking & presentation skills - to prepare thinking youths to speak with clarity & confidence as when the enter the employment market, it will be a key necessity by employers. Include (1) personal financial planning - to teach youths the importance of savings, investments & evaluation of pricing. As for civics, its better than moral studies as it helps children understand each others' tradition and beliefs which is sadly lacking these days in the younger generation Many don't even know which is the capital city of our own states in Malaysia. Besides that their knowledge of physical geography is appalling. brought back into the curriculum Many travel around the world not understanding anything about others' culture and traditions. Some subjects like geography and civics should be Geography teaches us about culture around the world as well as our own.
I seconded our new edu minister's idea to study the idea of Finland education and let children be children especially in their early age. I think we should improve our education curriculum so that it will be in same standard with the advance country. We try our best at home but kids Rich Dad Poor Dad by learn better at school just because of the teacher factor. Kids aren't taught basics of personal finance. Malaysia also deals with the world on a global scale (education and in industries) and having English as the main medium would benefit our children in the long run. It would not make sense to use Bahasa Malaysia for all subjects, seeing that it is not used elsewhere in the world. subjects, especially Mathematics and Science Bahasa Malaysia can still be used as our national language and as a medium subjects.
